Reading Festival today! Almost two weeks ago the Electric Line UK team in collaboration with Nanev Music UK had the pleasure of living with their own eyes the biggest UK festival, a festival with almost 30 years of history behind it.
In 2017, its biggest edition to date undoubtedly where the chosen ones to lead the event composed by almost 300 artists were Kasabian, Eminem and MUSE. Second festival in UK for our team and undoubtedly an incredible surprise in all aspects, surprises such as the incredible venue that occupies the festival, with a fully equipped concert venue where we have more than 9 stages offering always all the facilities to attendees.
Another aspect that we liked and what we are not used to is the great security team that surrounded the festival. They always attended to you with a smile and they helped you in the possible, especially the equipment located in all the moats that are equipped with great buckets of water that offered to all that needed it. Thus these pits distributed throughout the enclosure, even in the same esplanades served as escape routes for those attendants who because of the large number of people wanted to leave.
We started our adventure in Reading entering the Guest area where the Press area was located, a totally equipped area where we were kept at all times. We left the premises and were completely amazed, next to the main stage a large esplanade with the public on blankets and stalls as if a picnic was treated, breathed another atmosphere and we loved. From families with their children to groups of young people, a contrast we had never seen in a festival.
Impossible to highlight the atmosphere at all times in the main stage, where clearly we could see the largest influx of public during Kasabian and Bastille. Continuing with the venue, a few meters away was the BBC 1 Radio Stage, a stage completely dedicated to electronic music where we highlight the always beloved Fatboy Slim and the crazy Dillon Francis, next to the set of Chris Lorenzo.
At the end of the enclosure, the second largest, a huge tent with a large capacity where we enjoy as no one from Sub Focus as we are accustomed. On the other side of the festival, five other scenarios according to their size and importance where dozens of artists went through all kinds of genres.
We started with the second day delaying our entry a bit, with Migos busting the Main Stage. As soon as the night was over, an incredible amount of time began to appear in the face of what was coming … Major Lazer lived with their own flesh the immense amount of public when the own Whalsy Fire ordered Diplo and Jilionaire to stop the music and said to the public to stop making pogos because there were people really going through it. After them the great expected of the festival, almost 40 mins of waiting awaited us what was going to be one of the best concerts of the entire edition. Eminem began after a great intro with his great friend with whom he acted and talked at all times. In short he gave us a great show singing one success after another where we saw the public in complete connection at all times.
The rest of the performances we enjoyed were mostly in the BBC 1 Radio Dance Stage, where we enjoyed as children both Jax Jones house and Drum N bass by our beloved Andy C and Noisia where they continue to blow up Outer Edges wherever go.
In general on Saturday we saw much more atmosphere and a great increase of public in all the stages that we saw clearly influenced by the performance of the American Eminem.
And finally came the least expected day for all … But without a doubt the best day for our team, both musical and personal level.
A fact that we have not informed and that we liked a lot is that we saw a lot of the public collecting garbage from the ground, both collecting glasses and trash bags … Why? Since the beginning of the festival, this one offered real money in exchange for trash to contribute to the cleaning and maintenance of the whole site, a proposal that we loved and hopefully the Spanish festivals adopt soon.
Returning to the musical theme, impossible not to highlight the performance of Giggs and the unpredictable visit of Drake. Behind them legend Liam Gallagher and the incredible closing of MUSE with Brian Johnson of ACDC and a pyrotechnic show worthy of the best festivals in Europe. In “our” stage was the big day, a day loaded with all kinds of electronic musical genre where we enjoyed as children of Claptone house, the pop of Chalie XCX and the trap of the great night star Marshmello, a set loaded with special effects where we saw a real full on BBC 1 Radio Dance Stage.
While we made an exceptional stop with Halsey, a concert that was a must, and this was demonstrated by his audience singing to the end, a lively concert at all times with a display of fireworks and incredible special effects. By mid-afternoon our team saw how much of the festival’s audience was emigrating like a tide heading for the 1Xtra Stage … Why? The very young J Hus was the reason for such a wave, so it was the stir that marked English that the public could not fit in the “small” tent.
In general we have the good words for Reading Festival and all its equipment, especially our surprise with the security team, its cleaning proposal and its commitment to a festival for all audiences …
Congratulations Reading! See you next year!
